Books, Books and More Books

I got a phone call this morning from a Detective DeVaney... yep, that's what the caller identified himself as... Of course, I knew he was joking but it was fun to have someone totally relate to a fictional character of my own creation. There is a quote from Elizabeth Peters -- one of my all-time favorite writers--who actually quotes her friend, Margaret Maron which goes like this, "Isn't it fun being God in our separate universes, where we can command the sun to stand still, and it does?"

Now, being God is not how I see myself but I know what she means. By a twist here and a nudge there, I can make characters like DeVaney do exactly what I want them to do. I can name someone Summer Winter and let her bounce around on a broken foot for most of the day... I would have been to the doctors immediately, by the way. I can make the 1950's census be in print already and not worry about the fact that it isn't... I can even make someone walk around one block and end up ten miles away from where they really would be if it wasn't my world but the real one. Such fun. The FUN of Fiction.

I think Truth is overrated... at least in reading materials.

So, if you're looking for a FUN and a sometimes unbelievable book... check out the first in the Summer Winter Mystery series... Buy this book!

Christmas is coming and NYC is a must for mystery fans... Scroll down to the bottom and send paypal some money for a very inexpensive gift for you or someone on your list.

And, have some fun becoming one of the interesting characters in NYC: A Mission To Die For

  1. That is so cool that your characters are sticking with people. PS I loved the name Detective DeVaney.
